Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves: Submit Project Concepts for Humanitarian Clean Cooking Fund (HCCF)

Applications are open for “The Humanitarian Clean Cooking Fund (HCCF)”, which is a new grant fund established by the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves (Alliance) with support from the Norwegian Agency for International Development.

The HCCF’s primary objective is to increase access to cleaner fuels and more efficient cooking technologies among crisis-affected people through the scale-up of successful cooking interventions in humanitarian settings.

HCCF also aims to foster innovations in program design and increase investment in alternative fuels and cooking technologies, which will improve health, save lives, reduce costs, and promote safety among humanitarian populations. Deadline: 21 July 2017

UKAID Call for Proposals: Human Development Innovation Fund (HDIF) Round 3 - Tanzania

The Human Development Innovation Fund (HDIF) is seeking applications for its pilot and scale-up projects with an aim to identify and support innovative and market‐driven solutions that have the potential to create social impact in Education, Health and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) across Tanzania.

HDIF is a UKAID challenge fund programme managed by a Palladium Group‐ led consortium in Tanzania. HDIF works in close partnership with the Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH) to transform the innovation ecosystem by providing technical assistance and promoting active knowledge management and sharing. Deadline: 8 September 2017

FRENCH EMBASSY’S (TANZANIA) FUND FOR INNOVATIVE PROJECTS FOR CIVIL SOCIETIES AND COALITIONS OF ACTORS (PISCCA)

The French fund for Innovative Projects from Civil Societies and Coalitions of Actors (PISCCA) is an instrument from the French Embassy to Tanzania to support projects from local Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).

PISCCA is the successor of the French Social Development Fund (SFD). The last SFD was implemented in Tanzania between 2009 and 2012 and funded 9 projects for a total amount of 500 000 euros, covering a large scale of sectors of intervention, including education, agriculture, health and access to water.

PISCCA aims at funding small-scale project and local initiatives which contribute to the strengthening of the Tanzanian civil society and to promoting social, economic and cultural rights in the country. Its main objectives are to support local initiatives, foster networking and synergies between stakeholders on the field and strengthen the capacities of the beneficiaries and civil society organizations.
The programme will last 3 years and is starting in 2016. It comprises two calls for proposals, in 2016 and 2017.

The 2016 call for proposals is open from the 18th April to the 20th May 2016.

Journalists' Training Opportunity for Reporting on Oil, Gas and Minerals – 2015

The Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI) is offering a media capacity development program for reporters in Ghana, Tanzania and Uganda. Applications are invited from practitioners who work for media organizations based in these countries. The program is designed for early- to mid-career journalists with a demonstrated interest in covering the extractive sectors of oil, gas and minerals. Good management of extractive resources and revenues requires informed, responsive, and dynamic media to provide necessary oversight and inform the public about critical governance issues.

THE TRAINING PROGRAM

The program offers a wide range of benefits: holistic and comprehensive support to journalists through specialized knowledge and skills modules; professional mentoring; experiential learning; reporting grants; prizes for outstanding reporting; access to sources and vital information and data; as well as interaction with peers, experts, policy makers, and oversight actors.

Youth Video Competition for Paris 2015 Launched on UN World Environment Day

Starting 5 June 2015, young people around the globe are invited to share what they are doing to combat climate change in the Global Youth Video Competition on Climate Change.

Two winners will get a trip to the UN Climate Change Conference in the French capital in December (COP21), where they will join the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) communications team as videographers and reporters. The competition is open to young people between the ages of 18 and 30 and videos must be submitted by 17 August 2015.

Be a Student Reporter at the World Resources Forum 2015, Davos-Switzerland

Apply to participate in a Pro Journo flagship program on obsession journalism and conference reporting with a focus on heterodox economics and the environment at the World Resources Forum 2015 in Davos, Switzerland. The WRF is held bi-annually to exchange knowledge about the economic, political and environmental implications of global resource use. The Collaborative Partnership on Forests (CPF) is accepting nominations for the 2015 CPF Wangari Maathai "Forest Champions" Award. It is a unique opportunity acknowledge an inspiring individual who has improved our forests and the lives of people that depend on them.

Raymond Lemaire International Fund: ICOMOS Programme for Next Generation Skills

The Raymond Lemaire Fund is currently inviting Students and Young Professionals (aged 21-30 in year of application) for its ICOMOS Programme (international council on monuments & sites) that aims to encourage young heritage professionals to develop their skills through training. The Fund is administered by the ICOMOS International Secretariat under the supervision of the ICOMOS Board.

2015 scholarships will be awarded to young professionals or students exercising their activities or studies within ICOMOS’ area of expertise of furthering the conservation, protection, use and enhancement of the world’s cultural heritage.

The Global Facility Challenge Fund to Strengthen Disaster and Climate Risk Decision-making

The Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR) and the UK Department for International Development’s (DFID) new competitive Challenge Fund seeks to pilot new and innovative approaches to overcome these challenges and strengthen disaster and climate risk decision-making in developing countries. This Challenge Fund seeks to provide small grants to projects that address the challenge in bridging the gap between technology and on-the-ground user needs in the field of disaster risk identification. Risk identification is seen at the foundation of all disaster risk management decision-making, whether risk reduction, preparedness, financial protection, or resilient recovery. The Fund seeks to support the development of data, products and approaches to support disaster risk management decision making and build resilience, including through better information, but also strengthening key steps in moving from information to insight and behavior change.

The Swiss Forum for International Agricultural Research SFIAR Award 2015 for new, innovative and result oriented research is open for applications. Any research that falls within the following definition of ARD given by the European Initiative for Agricultural Research for Development (EIARD) can be submitted- “ARD is a multi-dimensions research that addresses the agricultural development challenges of developing and emerging countries (DEC). The agricultural domain includes crop production and animal husbandry, agro-forestry, fisheries and aquaculture, agribusiness and related enterprises, animal and human health related issues, as well as the sustainable management of the natural sources on which farming depends and the socio-cultural and bio-diverse landscapes, food systems and ecologies in which it is embedded. At the request of the Office of the President of the General Assembly, UN-NGLS invites applications for a stakeholder speaking roles for the UN General Assembly interactive hearings on the post-2015 development agenda, taking place on 26-27 May 2015 at UN Headquarters.

Travel funding will be provided for at least 14 speakers to participate in these hearings.
